The DFB and SPM Sportplatz Media extend their marketing partnership for FUSSBALL.DE through the end of 2027
Long-standing partnership continues with a focus on innovative advertising formats and sustainable monetization of amateur soccer reach
The German Football Association (DFB) and SPM Sportplatz Media are continuing their long-standing partnership in digital marketing: The existing marketing partnership for the digital reach of amateur soccer—in particular for the high-reach platform FUSSBALL.DE—has been extended ahead of schedule and will now run through December 31, 2027.
Since 2020, SPM Sportplatz Media has been responsible for the marketing of FUSSBALL.DE and has supported the DFB in the strategic development of its digital advertising revenue. Despite challenging conditions, including pandemic-related suspensions of amateur soccer matches, digital revenue has grown steadily in recent years.
Focus on a positive user experience and sustainable monetization
In the coming years, the focus will remain on optimizing the monetization of FUSSBALL.DE’s desktop, mobile, and app reach, while always prioritizing a high level of user-friendliness. The goal is to offer advertisers a high-quality environment that also meets the expectations of the amateur soccer community.
FUSSBALL.DE is the central digital hub for amateur soccer in Germany and reaches approximately 2 million unique users each month. Across all platforms, it generates about 500 million page impressions per month. As Germany’s sports platform with the widest reach, it offers comprehensive access to “Soccer Germany,” from the professional leagues down to the lowest divisions. The portfolio is rounded out by the new PROMATEUR app, the first official management game for amateur soccer in Germany, powered by FUSSBALL.DE. PROMATEUR perfectly complements the DFB’s digital offerings, as the app creates a particularly attention-grabbing environment through longer user engagement and a community-based interaction model, while also opening up new opportunities for creative advertising formats.
FUSSBALL.DE will remain, and PROMATEUR will thus become part of the SPM Sports Media Network. The network provides advertising clients with a high-performance marketing environment based on a state-of-the-art AdStack, customized direct-sales solutions, programmatic advertising, and a 100 percent target audience match. This enables a unique, efficient, and effective way to reach the sports-loving community.
Robert Waltke, Senior Head of Digital Marketing, DFB GmbH & Co. KG:
“We are pleased to continue our successful partnership with SPM for the long term. Since 2020, we have worked together to strategically advance the digital marketing of FUSSBALL.DE and have significantly increased our revenue. Key factors for us are our reliable collaboration and our shared understanding of the needs of amateur soccer. We look forward to the coming years with great confidence.”
Marcel Hager, CEO SPM Sportplatz Media GmbH:
“For us, partnerships are all about teamwork. The long-term extension of our partnership with the DFB is a strong sign of the mutual trust and successful collaboration we’ve enjoyed over the past few years. FUSSBALL.DE is a unique platform with enormous reach and relevance for amateur soccer in Germany.” "Together, we will continue to professionalize our marketing efforts, establish innovative advertising formats, and continue to offer advertisers attractive access to this strong community."
