SPM Sportplatz Media Acquires the "Fussballtrainer" App
SPM Sportplatz Media GmbH, the publisher of the team management app “SpielerPlus,” is acquiring the “Fussballtrainer” app from the Swiss company Fussball Spielkultur GmbH, thereby expanding its range of services for coaches in amateur and recreational sports.
With SpielerPlus, SPM offers a global solution for digital organization and communication within sports teams. Particularly in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, SpielerPlus—as the market leader—now provides a digital home for over five million players, making their athletic lives easier and saving their coaches valuable time. With the acquisition of the “Fussballtrainer” app, SPM aims to expand its SpielerPlus portfolio and broaden its range of services for coaches, providing them with support in their daily work and saving them valuable time.
The “Fussballtrainer” app has been helping coaches professionally design training exercises and sessions for many years and has been downloaded nearly 1 million times. At the heart of the app are training exercises created by professional soccer coaches, which enable coaches of all ages and skill levels to deliver high-quality training sessions tailored to the specific goals of soccer teams. In the future, this added value will be integrated into the SpielerPlus offering, technologically reimagined by SPM with a new app, expanded to include additional sports, and—using an innovative AI-based interaction method—will serve as a personalized “assistant coach” for every coach.
The service will be available with the launch of the new app for soccer and handball and will be gradually expanded to include other sports in the future. The project will continue to be overseen by experts, athletic trainers, and coaches to ensure that the content maintains a high level of professional quality.
“With the ‘Fussballtrainer’ app, we’re integrating one of the most successful training programs in the DACH region into our SpielerPlus portfolio, enabling us to provide even better support to the approximately 600,000 coaches currently using SpielerPlus in their daily work. We’re working hard on the technical development so we can make the new app available to our users in time for the start of preseason training,” said Marcel Hager, Managing Director of SPM Sportplatz Media GmbH. “The highlight of the new solution will be an innovative AI-based interaction method that makes creating training exercises as user-friendly and simple as possible,” Hager continued.
“What began as an independent project is now becoming part of something bigger. This step opens up new opportunities for the coaches. Our vision remains the same—only the platform is growing. Thank you to everyone who has been with us along the way,” said Stevie Brunner, founder of Fussball Spielkultur GmbH.
