SPM is building a new website for the Women's Handball Bundesliga (HBF)
Back in April of this year, SPM Sportplatz Media and the Women’s Handball Bundesliga (HBF) announced a multi-year partnership spanning many areas. Now, the first major milestone has been achieved—the Women’s Handball Bundesliga’s new website is live! Just in time for the start of the 2022–23 Bundesliga season, the HBF has launched its new website at www.handball-bundesliga-frauen.de.
Since its founding ten years ago, SPM Sportplatz Media has specialized in software development with a focus on sports. In addition to market-leading B2C applications such as the team organization app SpielerPlus, the fantasy sports app TEAMTIP, and the fitness app SportlerPlus, SPM’s portfolio also includes numerous solutions for business customers such as publishers and associations.
The deinsportplatz sports portal system, developed by SPM, is being used for the relaunch of the new portal for HBF. This system, which specializes in sports coverage, consists of a headless CMS with front ends (web and app) tailored to the specific needs of each client. The system offers interfaces to all sports data providers; in this case, to Sportradar’s data interface.
During the implementation, a key focus was on the user experience and a modern, mobile-first approach, which the women's handball community can now look forward to.
Christoph Wendt, Managing Director of the Women’s Handball Bundesliga: “We are very excited and proud that this major project—which is so important for the further development of the HBF—is now launching. The new look and feel is really fun! It was important to us to have a clear and organized design so that users can navigate the site intuitively. Now, of course, we’re eager to see how the new website is received by the public.”
In terms of content, visitors to the new HBF website can expect, among other things, a wide range of exclusive statistics based on live game data, detailed player and club profiles, and the latest news from women’s handball. In addition, the focus will be placed more strongly on the teams and their active players. “We want to foster a sense of connection and show the players’ faces.” "The players and coaches are the faces of our sport, and we are now giving them the attention they deserve on the HBF website," said Wendt.
“The SPM team is very pleased about the partnership with the HBF and about having been entrusted with the opportunity to actively contribute to the Handball Bundesliga Women’s development strategy and, above all, to be responsible for implementing the new HBF website.” “We are very pleased to be working with an HBF team that viewed the relaunch as a milestone with high standards and took on a correspondingly active role in the collaboration. Women’s handball is characterized by strong unity, team spirit, and dedication. It is a pleasure for the entire SPM team to be a part of this,” said Marcel Hager, CEO of Sportplatz Media.
