Marketing partnership with HANDBALL.NET

SPM Sportplatz Media GmbH is now a marketing partner of the match data platform HANDBALL.NET, a joint project of the German Handball Federation, its regional associations, and the national leagues. As part of this partnership, SPM supports the partners in marketing the new handball portal HANDBALL.NET and its associated mobile applications.

Marketing partnership with HANDBALL.NET

SPM markets Germany’s largest media network for amateur sports, consisting of over 250 media outlets, and offers advertisers direct access to more than 70 sports. Through its partnership with the new platform HANDBALL.NET, SPM Sportplatz Media can further expand the reach of its digital media network and now also offer advertisers comprehensive access to the German handball scene.

The new home for all of German handball

Starting in October 2021, HANDBALL.NET will be the new digital home for more than 28 million handball enthusiasts in Germany. The platform brings together active handball players and handball fans. For players, the portal offers coverage of regional and national games, including live score updates, standings, and statistics. Clubs and associations can also use HANDBALL.NET as a source of information and a communication platform for their own activities. In addition, fans can find the latest news and videos about their favorite club, as well as merchandise and ticket offers. The portal is already projected to reach 180 million page views and 200,000 visitors in its first year.

“With HANDBALL.NET, we are making it possible for the first time for all active handball players, clubs, and fans in Germany to get a nationwide overview of the results, game schedules, and statistics for all handball leagues at a glance. This is an important step toward the digitization and contemporary, modern presentation of our sport. We are pleased to have found a strong marketing partner for HANDBALL.NET in SPM.” "Together with Sportfive, which will handle premium marketing, SPM will support us with reach marketing," said Thomas Zimmermann, the DHB's Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. The DHB will oversee project management for the new platform.

“We are very much looking forward to this collaboration and to supporting the new HANDBALL.NET portal from the very beginning. This marketing partnership aligns perfectly with our goal of being ‘closer to the action’ and reaching the German handball community,” said Marcel Hager, Managing Director of SPM Sportplatz Media.
