SPM and the Women's Handball Bundesliga (HBF) launch partnership
SPM Sportplatz Media and the Women’s Handball Bundesliga (HBF) are entering into a multi-year partnership in various areas. As part of this partnership, SPM is supporting the relaunch of the HBF website and creating a modern sports portal for the women’s handball community based on its “deinsportplatz” sports portal system. In addition, SPM is supporting the HBF as a sponsor in the areas of team organization and fitness through its two brands, SpielerPlus and SportlerPlus.
For over ten years, SPM has been developing software solutions with a particular focus on the sports sector for publishers, publishing houses, and associations. Based on SPM’s proven sports portal software “deinsportplatz,” a new website with a clear “mobile-first” focus is now being developed for the Women’s Handball Bundesliga for the 2022–23 season. The responsive website meets all requirements regarding the display of schedules, results, and statistics; the integration of data providers; the presentation of editorial content; and the seamless integration of advertising partners.
The Women's Handball Bundesliga, together with its clubs in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, is on a path of continuous development at all levels. The partnership with Sportplatz Media represents the next step toward further professionalization.
Digital support is also available for team organization and fitness—with SpielerPlus & SportlerPlus
With SpielerPlus, SPM offers Germany’s market-leading app for team organization. Around 4 million athletes now use the app. The app enjoys a particularly loyal user base in handball. Over 80% of all handball teams already use SpielerPlus for their team organization. As part of this partnership, SPM offers the women’s handball community numerous benefits and becomes the HBF’s official app for team organization.
Women’s handball is also being promoted in the fitness sector. With the “SportlerPlus” sports nutrition line and its accompanying app, the HBF is gaining a fitness partner that focuses entirely on the needs of active female athletes.
Kickoff at the Final4 in Stuttgart
The partnership kicks off at the OLYMP Final4 season finale in Stuttgart. On May 28 and 29, four teams will compete for the coveted DHB Cup at Stuttgart’s Porsche Arena. As official partners of this event, SpielerPlus & SportlerPlus will be on site. In addition to the usual advertising placements, on-site promotional activities are also planned.
“I am very pleased about the partnership with the HBF and that I have been entrusted with the opportunity to support the league on various levels. Women’s handball is characterized by strong unity, team spirit, and dedication. It is a pleasure for the entire SPM team to be a part of it,” said Marcel Hager, CEO of Sportplatz Media.
“The partnership with Sportplatz Media aligns perfectly with the Women’s Handball Bundesliga’s strategy for further development and increased professionalization. With the new HBF website, we are setting a milestone together and aim to meet the high standards expected of a modern league portal. We warmly welcome Sportplatz Media to the HBF family and are very much looking forward to our future collaboration,” says HBF Managing Director Christoph Wendt.
